After graduating from high school, Tapper attended Dartmouth College. He majored in history and political science. While at Dartmouth, Tapper was a member of the debate team and the college newspaper. He also interned for Senator John Kerry's presidential campaign.
After graduating from Dartmouth, Tapper worked as a reporter for several newspapers, including the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. In 2003, he joined CNN as a White House correspondent. He covered the Bush administration and the Obama administration.
In 2013, Tapper was named the anchor of CNN's The Lead. He has also hosted several other shows on CNN, including State of the Union and Jake Tapper's Book Club.
